At approximately 2:54 p.m. Wednesday, police deployed at least eight non-lethal gas countermeasures where they say at least one man had barricaded himself inside a home in Groves near the intersection of Lincoln and Jackson Boulevard.

The man is said to have at least one weapon, a long gun like a shotgun or rifle, police said.

Police arrived on the scene at about 11:15 a.m., and by 2:15 p.m. could be heard communicating with the suspect via loudspeaker, encouraging him to exit the home.

Police arrested one man in Orange on Tuesday, June 18, after the man violated a solicitation ordinance by asking drivers stopped at an intersection for money.

A 45-year-old Port Arthur man was arrested Tuesday, June 18 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Port Arthur Police received a call around 7:40 p.m. claiming that a man was seen with a gun at the 700 block of 18th Street in Port Arthur. Several officers responded to the scene and saw a black male walking away from the area. According to a press release by PAPD, when the man spotted the officers, he fled and after a short foot chase was detained.

Close to 1800 people showed up to Claiborne West Park on Friday, June 14 to take part in the 19th Annual Cops and Kids event for Orange County. Police officers, sheriff’s deputies, state troopers, firemen and numerous people representing other emergency and safety services participated to make the event a huge success.
