June 26, at about 4 p.m., officers with the Beaumont Police Department (BPD), working closely with the Jefferson County Sheriffs Office, initiated a traffic stop in the 2300 block of Delaware on 64-year-old Beaumont resident Harry Lowenthal, who was reportedly observed “attempting to conceal suspected narcotics.” Lowenthal, placed under arrest on suspicion, further aroused officers’ hunches when a “large amount of suspected fentanyl” was found in possession of the suspect.

Detectives, executing the search warrant to follow up on Lowenthal’s alleged criminality, reportedly located a handgun, over 20 grams of suspected fentanyl, and a large amount of U.S. currency. Lowenthal was transported to the Jefferson County Jail and booked for possession of a controlled substance.
