Five-finger-discount at the Family Dollar

Former Port Arthur Family Dollar Store manager Crystal Shenell Brooks, 39, was indicted Aug. 2 by a Jefferson County grand jury on state jail felony charges of theft of property.

According to the probable cause affidavit for her arrest, Brooks, over the course of March 3 to March 6, is accused of taking cash deposits of $5,744.7 from Family Dollar, 6401 W.

Port Arthur Road, where she served as manager. Port Arthur Police Department responded to the reported theft and spoke with Regional Loss Prevention Representative Kevin Carpenter, who alleged Brooks’ theft.

Brooks was arrested April 20, and released on a $5,000 bond.
