Thanks to keen eyes on the internet, a man who allegedly “threw a haymaker” into the door of a Beaumont Fastlane convenience store has been identified.

This not publicly identified man allegedly pulled up to the Fastlane at 3890 IH-10 South on July 14, the Beaumont Police Department (BPD) reported, in the early morning hours.

“The door was locked so he knocked on it first,” BPD advised of surveillance evidence. “No one came to the door and he got upset.

“As he turned to walk away, he threw a haymaker into the glass door, causing it to break. This resulted in close to a $1,000 repair bill for the business.”

Within days, the heavy-handed, afterhours visitor was fingered.

Now, BPD is hoping the public can again assist in coining the identity of an alleged convenience store culprit, the agency seeking help in identifying a suspect that allegedly took off with a set of keys that didn’t belong to them from the sales counter at Bryan’s convenience store, 190 North 23rd St., on July 23.

According to information from BPD, at 10:40 p.m., a customer accidentally left his keys behind and, when he returned to collect his keys, found the property had been taken by another customer. Video surveillance revealed a suspect, wearing no shirt, black shorts, a black hat and braided hair, picked up the keys and walked out of the store with them.

Anyone who can identify the suspect is asked to contact BPD at (409) 832- 1234 or Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas at (409) 833-TIPS (8477).
