Local registered sex offender Jimmy King Jr., 44, was indicted on multiple felony sex crimes, as well as failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements, by a Jefferson County Grand Jury on Sept. 27.

According to the probable cause affi- davit for King’s arrest, Beaumont Police Department Detective Ryan Flanigan with the Special Crimes Unit was assigned to the investigation after police responded to a welfare check regarding a juvenile female at King’s registered residence on May 15.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with King, along with a 15-year-old female who, during the course of the investigation, granted officers consent to look at the text messages between her and King on her phone, at which point officers discovered numerous sexually explicit images from and to King.

Officers seized the phones as evidence and turned them into the Beaumont Police Property Office, after which a search reportedly revealed text messages from King to the minor soliciting her for sex. King allegedly encouraged the child to sneak out of her house and get into his vehicle and sent the child text detailing sexually explicit activities. King is charged with using text messages to solicit sex with the 15-year-old child.

Additionally, King was indicted on two counts of sexual performance of a child, sexual assault, and possession of child pornography, since multiple videos on his phone allegedly depict King committing sex crimes against the minor.

Lastly, King was indicted on a charge of failure to comply with sex offender registration, as officers discovered he had multiple social media accounts including Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, and TikTok on his phone, all of which had accounts with his name and photo for the profile. However, according to registration requirements, King is required to report new online identifiers to his registration authority within seven days to be considered in compliance with his registration requirements. King’s most recent verification was dated Jan. 26, when he claimed to not have any internet identifiers or social media accounts. King initialed and acknowledged indicating his awareness of the seven-day reporting requirement. Evidence established to the charging officer that King had established the social media accounts since at least February, making him out of compliance with his registry requirements, a state jail felony.

At press time, King remained in custody at the Jefferson County Correctional Facility with no bond.
