Traffic stop yields two arrests, drugs

Two men were arrested Aug. 16 after a traffic stop, according to the Beaumont Police Department (BPD).

BPD reported that, at 7:45 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a silver Hyundai Tucson SUV in the 2300 block of Cable. Inside the vehicle were two male suspect and two small children, as well as methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, synthetic marijuana, promethazine and a handgun, police reported.

The driver, Winsdell Young, 44, of Beaumont, was charged with charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and unlawfully carrying a weapon. Passenger, David Wise, 43, also of Beaumont, is a convinced felon and was charged with unlawfully carrying a firearm by a felon and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

BPD reported the children were released to their mother.
