It’s the community’s last chance to see Port Arthur Little Theatre’s production of “Beauty & The Beast” on Friday, Aug. 18 through Sunday, Aug. 20. Tickets are available at palt.org and start at $11 for students (through college); $13 for senior citizens (62 and older), teachers and active-duty military; and $15 for adult general admission. Reservations can be made by leaving a message at (409) 727-7258.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 18-19, and 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 19-20.

The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end, and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

“Bringing this production to life has been magical,” said Debbie Pletcher, who is directing the show and is also the PALT Board President. “To get to work with so many talented people both on the stage and behind the scenes has been humbling. I think it’s a show all of Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana needs to see. The amount of talent is mind-blowing.”

Located at 4701 Jimmy Johnson Blvd. in Port Arthur, PALT’s mission is to stimulate an interest in live theatre by the presentation of worthy plays, to encourage local talent in acting, music, and theatre arts, and to endeavor to raise the standard of public taste in drama. It was established in 1939 and has held more than 3,200 performances to date.
