The Jefferson Theatre, operated by the City of Beaumont, will host the silent film masterpiece, “Sherlock Jr.,” accompanied by a captivating live music performance on the historic Morton Organ on Saturday, July 22, at 7 p.m.

Directed by the legendary Buster Keaton, who is also the star of the show, and released in 1924, “Sherlock Jr.” is hailed as “one of the greatest silent films ever made.” Known for its innovative storytelling and Keaton's unmatched physical comedy, the film tells the story of a movie projectionist who daydreams himself into the role of the great detective, Sherlock Holmes.

Bringing a new dimension to this cinematic gem, the Jefferson Theatre has enlisted the exceptional talents of renowned organist, Tom Helms, to perform a live score on the venue's iconic Morton Organ. Known for its rich and resonant sound, this magnificent instrument will transport viewers back in time and elevate the movie-watching experience to new heights.

“We are incredibly excited to present ‘Sherlock Jr.’ with live organ accompaniment," said Emily Wheeler, director of event services for the City of Beaumont. “The combination of this beloved silent film and the majestic Morton Organ is a truly amazing experience that will delight audiences of all ages. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the magic of cinema and appreciate the incredible artistry of this film, the organ, and the historic theatre. The City of Beaumont is proud to offer these unique experiences to the community.”

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at ticketmaster.com or at the venue (345 Fannin St.) on the night of the event.
