The Symphony of Southeast Texas will begin their 71st season Saturday, Sept. 16, with “Elegance of Dance” at the Julie Rogers Theatre at 7:30 p.m.

The concert begins with Verdi’s “Nabucco Overture,” the opera that launched Verdi’s career as an operatic composer, a career that made him famous. Filled with lyrical melodies introduced by a variety of brass choirs, it culminates with beautiful harmonies and operatic themes.

The riveting 29-year-old American violinist William Hagen will perform Sibelius’ Violin Concerto. A native of Salt Lake City, Utah, Hagen began playing the violin at the age of 4. Since his debut with the Utah Symphony at age 9, he has performed with conductors all over the world and studied at the Juilliard School for two years under Itzhak Perlman.

The second half of the evening will feature guest artists of the Beaumont Civic Ballet dancing movements from the beautiful classic, Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake.”

Single tickets start at $36 and can be purchased online at sost.org. Season tickets are also available through Oct. 14 with prices ranging $135-$309.

The Julie Rogers Theatre is located at 765 Pearl St. in downtown Beaumont. For more information, view (409) 892-2257.
