So much merriment
Even though our fair city dealt with frozen temps for several nights, so many of us had a ton of merriment during this wonderful season. While many stayed in town, some left for the snowy mountains and the sunny beaches. Laurie and Bart Umphrey, Sheila Umphrey enjoyed the warm weather while Susan and Jordan Reese, Paige Windham, Mitch Smith, Alison Kiker, Mike Yennie hit the slopes for some snow skiing. So many families stayed in town to enjoy the festivities including the Jenkins, Manesses, Ohmstedes, Edwards, Oxfords, Babineauxs, Pieternelles, Smiths, Manuels, Steinhagens, Wilsons, Phelans, Messinas, Broussards, Byrds and so many others.
Getting ready… New Year’s Eve is just around the corner and several fav spots will be hosting festive gatherings such as the Great Gatsby Party at 5 Under Golf and the PYTs “go-to” spot, Pour09, will certainly will be a must stop for the party crowd. Enjoy the celebrations, but stay safe to enjoy the yummy food for health and wealth on New Year’s Day!
So excited… Beaumont Civic Ballet recently created a new fundraiser, Bubbles and Brews, on Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Julie Rogers Theatre from 6:30-10:30 p.m. Event chairs Tara Audilet, Kim Jaynes and Tiffany Neale have put together an exciting evening for patrons, who will enjoy an evening tasting hand-selected Champagnes and craft beers from both Debb’s Liquor and Giglio Distributing. Save the date… the Christus Southeast Texas Foundation has announced that country music royalty Wynona Judd will headline their 40th Annual Gala, which is set for Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the Beaumont Civic Center. This black-tie benefit provides an opportunity for an intimate evening of entertainment starting with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, followed by a gourmet meal, all leading to the exciting Wynona performance. She was dubbed as “The Greatest Female Country Singer since Patsy Cline” and was part of one of the most successful music duos of all time, “The Judds.” Reservations can be made at christussoutheasttexasfoundation.org.
Getting artsy… The Art Museum of Southeast Texas will present a new exhibit, “James C. Watkins: Reflections Made of Memories,” on view Jan. 7-March 19. Watkins, who lives in Lubbock, is well-known for his unique and pioneering firing techniques, as well as his mastery of building large double-walled vessels. His ceramic pieces are inspired by his experiences growing up in the rural south. It was here, he assisted his mother and grandmother in their cleaning and food-making endeavors by keeping the fire burning under their cast-iron pots. There will be an opening reception, which is free and open to the public, on Friday, Jan. 13, at 6:30 p.m.

Infanticipating… Sara and Mickey Phelan IV were thrilled to announce they will be welcoming their biggest blessing, Molly McDade Phelan in June of 2023. Also, Tabitha and Cristopher Quinn will start their greatest adventure in July 2023 when they welcome their bundle of joy. Felicitations to both precious couples!
