For the children

What a fantastic turnout for the 32nd annual Pour Les Enfants fundraiser as the Garth House paid homage to all those who were “Garth House Heroes.” Kudos to Sheigh Summerlin Rhodes and Brooke Hall, who co-chaired this year’s fun filled event. The stage was set perfectly with the words “Garth House” glowing in the night sky awash in blue lights ala the Bat Signal, along with city silhouettes and plenty of action “pows, bams, zaps, zowies and bangs,” which were truly fit for any superhero. Cartoon caricatures of Earl White, Zena Stephens, Jimmy Singletary, Bob Wortham, Larry Thorne, Al Prause and Renee Nembhard were decorated in the silent auction tent as representatives of the partner agencies that work with Garth House that help protect the children of Southeast Texas. The live auction showcased several great trips! Al Prause and Craig Kinsel each won bids and will be going to Anahuac for an alligator hunt to bag a trophy gator. Terry Garth will be enjoying a “Green Getaway” to The Floridian after winning a wonderful trip. A special appearance was made by Lady Diana, an adorable Labradoodle puppy, who found her way into the heart of Mallory Roebuck as her forever home! Chefs Traci and Casey Gates provided a delicious meal that included carved beef tenderloin, a delish fall salad with kale, romaine, dried fruits, candied pecans in a Dijon vinaigrette along with many other delectable selections. Guests who shared the enchanting evening with the honorary superheroes included Sandy and Joseph Fertitta, Lee Ann and Terry Garth, Peggy and Juan Zabala, Madison and Cody Bonvillion, Jessica and Johnny Adair, Teri and Glen Morgan, Keely and Craig Kinsel, Randy Shelton, Susan and Tim Byrom, Sunni and Jared Bishop, Michelle Sjodin, Wendy and Wade Henry, Kristen and Chris Davis, Courtland Spotts, and others who were having a blast bidding and table hopping throughout the enchanted evening!

A lavish luncheon… Junior League of Beaumont held their annual Main Street Market at the Civic Center last weekend and the festivities were attended by a tremendous crowd. The fun began on Thursday evening and most of the market items were sold out by Saturday night when the bountiful booths were being dismantled. Midday Friday, the must attend luncheon was hosted by MSM chair Casie Harris.  JLB president Katie Baker discussed the many community projects that were accomplished during the year. Once again, a delicious meal was served to the well-dressed guests. In the mix were Cathy Spidle, Laine Morrison, Jan Rugg, Regina Rogers, Maite Broussard, Mallory Rugg, Kate Thorne, Jeri Kirkendall, Jana Richards, Laurel Rugg Zepeda, Nicki Pomonis Messina, Sharon Dickerson, Teri Rodriguez, Amanda Heironimus, Amber Villareal, Amanda Robichau, Asley Case, Brandon Williams, Chelsea Lee, D’Anna Mouton-Habash, Doreen Freeman, Erin Jacquet, Ginny Sweeney, Holly Hawkins, Dalonna Ryann, and too many more to mention. Kudos ladies on another successful fun-raiser.

On exhibition… is an exciting selection of paintings by Michael Lee titled “Finding My Way.” These works of arts are amazing and visually gives the viewer a look into the journey of the talented artist. All of this can be seen at Café Arts inside the Art Museum of Southeast Texas until Feb. 5, 2023.

Don’t forget… about the upcoming Holiday Open House at the lovely McFaddin-Ward House on Sunday, Dec. 11, from 5-7 p.m. Enjoy the magnificent holiday decorations adorning the historic home with a walk-through tour of the first floor. Carolers will greet you in the gardens, beautiful Christmas music will be played on the grand piano in the Music Room, and a special guest will be waiting on the porch to check your list. See you there!
