The city of Port Arthur has partnered with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), and the Sabine Pass Port Authority (SPPA) for the roadway reconstruction of S. 1st Avenue, the reconstruction of Mechanic Street, and reconstruction of the Boat Ramp, with completion now celebrated as the community readies for the holiday season. To revel in the accomplishment, officials have invited the public to attend a ribboncutting ceremony scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 9, at 9 a.m. at the corner of Broadway Street and 1st Avenue in Sabine Pass, near the Boat Ramp. Guests are promised refreshments and plenty of parking.

The completed projects combined represent an investment of just over $2.5 million, which officials report is a much needed “shot in the arm” for the Sabine Pass community and the city of Port Arthur.
