Oct. 22, The Salvation Army in Orange welcomed new leaders in Captains Dante and Tiffany Salgado.

According to information from The Salvation Army, the Salgados and their three young children are arriving in Southeast Texas via Pasadena where, for the last two years, they were responsible for the programs and services of the Pasadena Salvation Army. The move is not uncommon, according to the nonprofit’s routine of periodically transferring Salvation Army Officers to different locations, typically every 3-5 years.

The Salgado family was sparked through Salvation Army service, the future captains meeting while attending Divisional Music and Arts Rehearsals at The Salvation Army Camp Hoblitzelle more than 20 years ago.

“They both play the cornet and still play together in the Texas Divisional Band,” Philip Burn of The Salvation Army shared. “They were Commissioned (ordained) as Salvation Army Officers in 2016 and have served in San Antonio and Pasadena. Their joint ministry is anchored in a deep love for God and commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army.”

The couple is responsible for all church programs and social services at the local Salvation Army, including the Family Store, Boys & Girls Club, food pantries at Lamar College and The Salvation Army Facility, disaster relief, discipleship programs and worship services.

“We look forward to meeting the needs of this community and ‘Doing The Most Good’ alongside the staff, volunteers and supporters of The Salvation Army,” Captain Dante expressed in welcome.

“Many people don’t realize that The Salvation Army is a church,” added Captain Tiffany, who invited the community to visit on any Sunday at 10 a.m. at The Salvation Army, located at 1950 MLK Dr. in Orange. “We look forward to meeting you soon!”
