“Hoo’s There?” is a nature-based after school activity for fourth and fifth graders offering hands-on opportunity to solve an “owl mystery” by dissecting owl pellets with bones on Thursday, Oct. 19, from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Tyrrell Park Nature Center, 3930 Babe Zaharias Dr. in Beaumont. Check-in begins at 4:15 p.m. Owl pellets are the undigested parts of an owl's food, regurgitated and coughed up through the beak.

Ages 9 – 11 are welcome to the free event with and accompanying parent or adult chaperone.

The program starts at 4:30 p.m. and is an interactive, nature-based, science exploration activity, where each child will examine and dissect one owl pellet while learning about an owl’s diet, habits, and other fun facts about owls. Guided instruction, discussion, materials and junior science worksheets will be provided as each child investigates what is in their owl pellet. Each child participant will be able to take their junior science lab worksheets, as well as their owl pellet remains and bones, home with them.
