The year 2022 is behind us and most of us are looking forward to the new year. While there were tons of ink provided this year, we have pursued the photos of the last 12 months for you to “stroll down memory lane.” Here’s to you and hopefully these memorable events, and photos, will bring a smile to help jumpstart 2023. Most of the happenings occurred for charitable reasons, which certainly assisted these organization in bettering our community. Some of the soirees were hosted in celebration of others or to strengthen fellowship. While there were other gatherings on the calendar, these are certainly some of the most memorable: Alzheimer’s Association Family Portrait honoring Sheila and Walter Umphrey, American Cancer Society’s Cattle Baron’s “Yellowstone” Ball, Beaumont Chamber of Commerce’s “Spice of the Season,” Art Museum of Southeast Texas’ Fashion with Feathers 35th anniversary gala honoring Greg Busceme, Jane and Joe Bob Kinsel, Keely and Craig Kinsel, Beaumont Children’s Museum Casino Gala, CASA of Southeast Texas’ “Justice is Served” Disco Nights Dinner, Beaumont Community Players’ White Linen Nights, Anayat House Gala, AMSET’s “Go for the Gold,” Catholic Charities’ Harvest of Hope Gala honoring Diane and Don Shaver, Dishman Art Museum’s Wine Pairings, Garth House Pour Les Enfants, Junior League of Beaumont Dancing With the Stars of Southeast Texas, Julie Rogers “Gift of Life” annual Julie Richardson Procter 5K Ribbon Run “Monster Dash,” Lamar University’s Distinguished Alumni Dinner, Neches River Festival Coronation and Ball, Nutrition and Senior Services Deliver the Difference Luncheon honoring Elaine Shellenberger and Karen and Mike Fuljenz. Symphony League Debutante and Belle/Beau Ball, LU’s Le Grand Bal honoring Patti and Floyd McSpadden, Taste of the Triangle and the Alzheimer Association of Southeast Texas’ Family Portrait Luncheon, which honored the Umphrey family. Kudos to all those who took part! Can’t wait to see what 2023 brings us!

Save the dates… This year’s Anayat House Gala falls on “Nation Women Physician Day,” which is Friday, Feb. 3, at the Downtown Event Centre. Honorees are doctors Jane Angel, Iumy Torres-Barja, Brandy Bergeron, Laurie Jansky, Seeme Kansara, Jennifer Kresta, Waheeda Mithani, Deborah Sherman, Lauree Thompson, T. Renee Brown-Nembhard and Janna Nunez-Gussman. The 41st annual Taste of the Triangle is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the Beaumont Civic Center. AMSET’s Go for the Gold “Bring on the Bling” reverse drawing fundraiser is Thursday, March 2. The “Gift of Life” announced the return of the “Party of the Year,” Champagne and Ribs, which will take place Thursday, March 9, at the Beaumont Civic Center. Five distinguished honorees will be recognized including Bishop Emeritus Curtis Guillory; investment advisor and prostate cancer survivor Brad Klein; Chairman of TGS and member of the Board of Regents of the Texas State University System William “Bill” Scott; attorney and former president of the Jefferson County Bar Association J. Mitchell Smith; and Symphony of Southeast Texas’ Maestro Chelsea Tipton. Nutrition and Senior Services recently announced details for the Deliver the Difference Luncheon, which is Thursday, May 4, at the Downtown Event Center. Honorary chairs are Susan and Wayne Margolis. This year’s honorees are Sherrie and Jeff Branick.

New hours… Little Bruno’s on Phelan and Peyton is now open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for both brunch and lunch.

Storkmarketing… Congrats to the first Beaumont baby born in 2023 – Dawson Reid Taylor, who came in at 1:03 a.m. on Jan. 1. The bundle of joy weighed 6 pounds, 7 ounces. Parents Kaci and Tomas Taylor are thrilled!

Happy anniversary… to Maggie and Burnie Cook (13 years), Casey and Mark Oliver (13), Patty and Jim Pittman (14), Judy and Eddie Manuel (25), and Carole and Troy Jones (32). Congrats!

Candles and cakes… belated best to Sandy and Joseph Fertitta, who both celebrated bdays in December.
