Port Arthur Littler Theatre presents their version of “The Outsiders,” beginning March 24-26, March 31, and April 1-2. The curtain will rise at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Adapted by Christopher Sergel from the S.E. Hinten book and locally directed by Andrea Eymard, this drama deals with real people, seen through the eyes of young Ponyboy, a greaser on the wrong side of life, caught up in territorial battles between the have-it-made rich kids – the Socs – and the tough, underprivileged “greaser” family and friends. While the Socs appear to have everything, the only thing a Greaser has is his friends... as these young people try to find themselves and each other, as the sadness of sophistication begins to reach them, and relationships reach a resolution. This is a play about young people who are not yet hopeless about latent decency during struggle.
Tickets are $9-$13 and can be purchased online at palt.org. The theater is located at 4701 Jimmy Johnson Blvd. in Port Arthur. For more information, call (409) 727-7258.
