Suspect named in grocery store shooting

The Beaumont Police Department (BPD) announced they are searching for Eligo Mendoza, 45, of Beaumont, for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon related to the shooting that occurred June 9 at the HEB grocery store on Dowlen Road.

Police report that officers responded to a “family violence situation” call at 9:18 p.m. at the grocery store, ultimately transporting a male victim to St. Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance. According to BPD spokesperson Carol Riley, the victim reported trying to run when the suspect allegedly pulled a gun and shot the victim multiple times.
