Child hit by car, shots fired follows

An auto-pedestrian accident involving a child led to a disturbance in which shots were fired on June 17, the Beaumont Police Department (BPD) reports, with zero arrests and zero names released as the investigation continues.

According to BPD, officers responded to Liberia Park at 4:13 p.m. in reference to the auto-pedestrian accident. While officers were en route, callers advised that shots were fired.

BPD reported that a preliminary investigation revealed a disturbance ensued which led to shots being fired as a result of the auto pedestrian incident. Two individuals were struck by gunfire and were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The child was also transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
