A wanted fugitive ran out of gas while attempting to evade officers during a traffic stop at Brandon Avenue and Pipkin Street, reported the Beaumont Police Department (BPD).

Jerrian Elam, 19, of Beaumont, was arrested after a car and foot chase June 21 at 7:38 p.m., after BPD’s Special Assignment Unit (SAU) and patrol units set up a perimeter and K9 tracked the suspect under a house in the 2900 block of Amarillo Street.

Officers also found and arrested two other young adult males on charges of evading. Elam was wanted on aggravated robbery and deadly conduct warrants issued in connection with the robbery of a delivery driver on Regent Street.

BPD reported the driver was shot and critically injured, but managed to return fire at two attackers. Police later arrested the other suspect allegedly linked to the robbery.
