Beaumont resident Yance Young, 31, allegedly jumped out of a Nissan Altima in the 1200 block of North 11th Street at about 3 p.m. June 27 and took off on foot to evade officers – but didn’t get far, according to the Beaumont Police Department (BPD).

According to BPD, officers initiated a traffic stop in the 3200 block of Interstate 10 North, with the driver later identified as Young failing to stop and instead took officers on a vehicle pursuit through the city’s north end. After a brief foot pursuit once Young stopped the vehicle on 11th Street, BPD asserted, officers apprehended and placed him under arrest for possession of approximately 6 grams of suspected methamphetamine and an undisclosed amount of suspected heroin. It was then determined that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Orange County.

Young was transported to the Beaumont Police Department to be interviewed by detectives and then later booked for possession of a controlled substance, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest with a vehicle, and evading arrest.
