Beaumont Heritage Society excitedly announced what organizers plan to be the first annual Treasured Traditions event to be held at the historic Chambers House Museum, 2240 Calder Ave.

This family-friendly event is one of several special projects to be spearheaded by the museum’s newest employee, Museum Educator Alexandria Barney. The event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 12, beginning at 9 a.m. on the museum grounds.

“This summer has been such an exciting time to join the team,” said Barney. “I’m getting to be just a small part of this incredible organization through public outreach, volunteer training, research, exhibit design, and special programs like this one. The goal with this event is to highlight communitycentered organizations in Beaumont, which provide activities and exhibits for the public in areas of interest that Ruth and Florence Chambers loved. We are grateful for everyone’s involvement and willingness to volunteer their time for the public to enjoy and learn what Beaumont has to offer.”

The event is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome to take part in several hands-on activities hosted by the Art Museum of Southeast Texas, the Tyrrell Historical Library, the Tyrrell Nature Center and more.

Light refreshments will be provided. Visitors will also have access to tour the first floor of the Chambers House Museum and explore the grounds.
