County approves 3% COLA for officials, employees

Elected officials and county employ- ees will receive a 3% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) after the Hardin County Commissioners Court approved the action during their July 11 meeting.

The county will also continue to pay $1,500 per month per employee for health insurance in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 budget, as they did in FY 2023.

The COLA goes into effect Oct. 1.

The payment toward health insurance is higher than the “Employee Only” premium, which provides some relief to employees that have dependents on their health insurance, but that relief depends on the chosen plan. Health insurance premiums will increase by approximate- ly 3.1% in December.
