Small plane makes emergency landing

A small plane that lost a portion of its landing gear was forced into an emer- gency land at the Jack Brooks Regional Airport on July 26.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), about 5:15 p.m., a 911 call was received regarding a small airplane that had lost a portion of its landing gear along 34th Street in Nederland. The small plane had radio contact with the air traffic control tower at the airport and the pilot was able to make an emergency landing at the airport. No injuries are reported.

Jack Brooks Regional Airport Manager Alex Rupp advised JCSO that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been notified.

Anyone who finds parts believed to belong to the plane is asked to contact JCSO at (409) 835-8668.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene with Nederland Police Department, Nederland Fire Department, Airport FD and JCSO.
