Going into August, Naval Aircrewman 1st Class Christopher Taylor, from Beaumont, served as an instructor assigned to Patrol and Reconnaissance Squadron (VP) 30. During the mission, Taylor spoke to the Jacksonville chapter of the Navy League inside a P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft at VP-30 headquarters during a scheduled tour on Aug. 9.

VP-30’s mission is to provide P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft and MQ-4C UAS specific training to pilots, Naval flight officers, and enlisted aircrew prior to reporting to the fleet. U.S. Navy Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Curtis D. Spencer photographed the momentous event.
