The City of Vidor is hosting their first “Music Friendly Jam” at Conn Park on Saturday, Sept. 2, from 10 a.m. to midnight.

More than 30 local singers will compete in a music competition and the winner will perform later that evening at 7 p.m. before headliner, Donice Morace.

A native of Vidor, Morace began his journey in music at the tender age of 6 when his father bought him his first guitar. After finding inspiration from the likes of George Strait, Keith Whitley, George Jones, Conway Twitty, Tracy Byrd and Mark Chesnutt, he launched his professional singing career.

Morace has opened for the likes of Lonestar, Kenny Chesney, Merle Haggard, Kevin Fowler, Aaron Watson, and Cody Johnson. He later released his debut album in 2019, “Long Live the Cowboy,” which helped him earn Emerging Artist of the Year at the Texas Country Music Awards.

There will be food trucks, vendors, kids’ zone and more. Entry is $5. Conn Park is located at 164 Interstate 10 Frontage Road.
