Oct. 2, Paul Edward Nelson, 57, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to promote child pornography and online solicitation of a minor, both given $100,000 bonds, in Montgomery County. Nelson, who served as fire chief of the Port Neches Fire Department for five years before his 2021 arrest for separate child pornography crimes, was out on bond from Jefferson County when the new arrest was made.

Nelson’s arrest in January 2021 was the result of a joint operation between the Port Neches Police Department and the Texas Attorney General’s Child Exploitation unit. Bond was reportedly set at $25,000 each for two charges of felony promotion of child pornography. A tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children led to the investigation.
