The halls of Pietzsch-MacArthur PreK-8 Center were bustling with excitement and happiness on Nov. 2, as the campus celebrated the ribbon-cutting of the book vending machine donated by the United Way of Beaumont and North Jefferson County. This event was made possible by a $5,000 donation from ExxonMobil Beaumont.

“This book vending machine is more than just a vending machine; it is an opportunity for us to give students an additional avenue to fall in love with books,” said Principal Tamara Long. “It is also a great tool for our campus to use in assisting [to] close reading gaps among our students.”

As an added bonus to the event, students were also able to enjoy a story read aloud by Jose’ Diaz, ExxonMobil Plant operations manager.
