Preservation Texas is inviting the public to participate in the Southeast Texas Regional Preservation Summit, set for Thursday, Nov. 16, at the McFaddinWard House Visitor Center in Beaumont from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Registration is open to anyone interested in attending and includes a box lunch and an opportunity to tour the historic McFaddin-Ward House.

The event will feature a disaster preparedness and response workshop focused on historic buildings and neighborhoods led by the Texas Historical Commission and staff from SWCA, as well as coastal preservation efforts that can serve as a model and inspiration for preservation activities elsewhere in southeast Texas.

Later in the evening, Preservation Texas will host a free lecture at 6:30 p.m. at the Dishman Art Museum by renowned architectural historian Stephen Fox on “The Twentieth-Century Architectural Heritage of Texas’s Golden Triangle,” that highlights architecture ranging from buildings constructed in the wake of the Spindletop oil discovery to mid-twentieth-century design by Beaumont, Port Arthur and Orange architects.

Registration is required for both events. Tickets for the summit can be purchased for $50 for Preservation Texas members or $75 for non-members at preservationtexas.org/setxsummit.

The lecture at Lamar University’s Dishman Art Museum Auditorium is offered free of charge. Visit
