BPD captured mid-day robbery suspect

The Beaumont Police Department (BPD), in investigating the Jan. 16 robbery of a convenience store that took place in the middle of the day, have reportedly connected the suspect to a previous crime, as well.

According to BPD, at 2:55 p.m., a white male in his 50s entered Speedway, 2795 Eastex Freeway, and robbed the clerk at gunpoint. The suspect fled in a newer model black or dark gray Dodge van but the license plates were covered.

Around midnight, BPD reported, officers located the suspect at the Budget Inn located at 5375 College Street. Taken into custody for the robbery was He was identified as 51-year-old Tarrell Donald Nowlin, of Nederland. He was transported to BPD for an interview.

“Officers located evidence linking him to the robbery,” BPD reported, further noting Nowlin’s vehicle “is believed to have been involved in the aggravated robbery that occurred at 1625 W. Cardinal Drive on Jan. 13.”

“During the investigation, our detectives learned that defendant Nowlin was also alleged to have carjacked a vehicle in Nederland on Jan. 16, at around noon,” BPD further alleged. Nowlin was transported to Jefferson County Correctional Facility and booked in for the aggravated robbery related to the 2795 Eastex incident. “Charges are pending on the other crimes.”
