Two teens are in jail and a juvenile is in a youth detention facility after all three were taken into custody in connection with a shooting incident at a Silsbee convenience store on Feb. 5.

According to Police Chief Shawn Blackwell, at 6:29 p.m., Silsbee Police Department (SPD) officers responded to JR’s Food Mart, 1240 North 5th St., in reference to the report of multiple gunshots.

On scene, Blackwell noted that investigating officers discovered a white Kia, occupied by Brayden Beasley and Cameron Davis, both 17, stopped on Kirby Street near the intersection North 4th Street.

Police report that the deadly incident of gunplay began when a 16-year-old juvenile exited the store and started walking toward Kirby Street. Gunshots erupted from the Kia targeting the juvenile, who returned fire in the direction of the Kia but was struck by bullet during the altercation.

The juvenile, subsequently found in possession of a stolen firearm and drugs, was treated at St. Elizabeth Hospital and released to police custody.

Beasley and Davis were later arrested, and each charged with deadly conduct (discharging firearm), a third-degree felony. Bond was set at $20,000 each; both remained in custody at press time.

The juvenile was charged with deadly conduct (discharging firearm), theft of firearm (state jail felony), unlawful carrying of weapon and possession of marijuana.

Blackwell added that the case is still under investigation with the possibility of more charges pending.
