Beaumont United Timberwolves qualified for the UIL State Basketball Tournament for the fourth consecutive year and look to win their third title in four appearances.
United (34-3) will play in the 6A semifinals Friday, March 8, against Stony Point (37-1) inside the Alamo- dome in San Antonio. A win would send the Timberwolves to the state champion- ship on Saturday against either Plano East (38-0) or Mansfield Lake Ridge (32-6) at 8:30 p.m. The championship is broadcast live on Bally Sports.
The Silsbee Tigers are also competing for a state basketball championship. For the 10th time overall, fifth in nine years, the Tigers (28-9) will play Canyon Randall (34-3) on Friday, March 8, at 1:30 p.m. in the Alamodome.
A victory would put Silsbee seeking their third 4A state title Saturday, March 9, at 7 p.m. against Faith Family Academy (23-11) or Stafford (35-6).
