Alegria Latin Dance Studio is hosting their “2024 Alegria Ballet Folklórico Recital.” Ballet Folklórico, also known as “folk dance” or “dance of the people,” expresses the beliefs and lifestyles of various regions through movement and music. The craft pays homage to previous generations while infusing aspects of modern elements. “When people learn Ballet Folklórico, and share its beauty with an audience, I strongly feel that we become passionate storytellers, said Micaela Moreno, the company’s founder and instructor. “The viewers are introduced to the sights and sounds of our ancestors, our culture. We are ‘History in Motion.’” The performance features over 20 performers from the ages of 6-46 in 12 dances from five states of Mexico.
