Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) undercover officers nabbed a 45-year-old Winnie man after the suspect reached out to them on a website known to host human trafficking efforts.
According to a probable cause affidavit released June 8, Ryan Neal Brooks, 45, fell for a trap undercover officers set on a site “known for human trafficking” Feb. 25, 2021. Officers say Brooks contacted them and “offered or agreed to pay a fee” to engage in sexual activities with a person he believed to be younger than 18.
“Brooks arrived at the (hotel) and came to the predetermined room, where (he) was taken into custody,” officers reported.
As of press time, Brooks did not appear on the Jefferson County inmate roster.
