With the primary more than a year away, an Orange County woman has announced she’s running for district attorney.

Krispen Walker, an assistant district attorney for more than 20 years, announced her candidacy Jan. 23 in a statement to KOGT.com.

In the statement, Walker detailed how she has faced 100 juries and sought justice for victims in cases including eight capital murders, six murders and numerous aggravated sexual assaults of children.

Walker joined the Orange County District Attorney’s Office in 2001, and has served in several capacities: juvenile prosecutor, misdemeanor prosecutor, felony prosecutor and Bail Bond Board member for several years.

Currently, as the first assistant district attorney in the 163rd District Court, Walker supervises the misdemeanor division, handling major crimes, and works on special projects including improving the quality of domestic violence cases; she also prepares county law enforcement for trends in crime, like sex and human trafficking.

Walker is a graduate of West Orange-Stark High School and serves as president of the boards of both the West Orange-Cove Consolidated ISD Education Foundation and Orange County Association of Retarded Citizens.

She’s also a member of the Philanthropic Education Organization and Ivy League Garden Club. In the past years, Walker served on the board for the local United Way and was a member of the Orange Rotary Club.
