“The Cajun Sensation” Chef Gerald Burton will once again cook his famous gumbo for the HOW Center’s eighth annual Super Bowl of Gumbo fundraiser. Cold weather and football? Then gumbo is the perfect dish to watch Super Bowl LVII when the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles play for the Lombardi Trophy.

A $10 donation is suggested, which includes gumbo and the trimmings. Curbside pickup begins Friday, Feb. 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Beaumont at 902 Bowie St.

Delivery is available for preorders, $75, and includes one gallon of gumbo plus all the trimmings.

Orders can be done by calling (409) 728-3474, or (409) 832-7102 or by email at howcenterbeaumont@gmail.com.

Deliveries will be done Friday, Feb. 10, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 11, same time.

The HOW (Honesty, Open-Mindedness, Willingness) Center, which was established as a nonprofit institution in Beaumont that provides a safe and structured living environment for individuals recovering from addiction while they gain the skills they need to live independently and successfully, is celebrating 31 years and will do so with an event Saturday, Feb. 11, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The West End Group located at 1245 Crockett St. in Beaumont.

Gumbo will be served at the event as well as curbside pickup. The event features guest speaker and best-selling author Damon West as well as raffles for fantastic prizes.
