Beaumont Police Department (BPD) detectives obtained a murder and aggravated robbery warrant for the suspect in a Sept. 21 robbery and subsequent shootout that occurred in the 300 block of E. Simmons.

Oct. 28, BPD announced, officers named 29-year-old Carron Joseph Dickenson Jr., of Beaumont, in connection to the murder of Randle Cormier, a 20-year-old Beaumont man killed in the act of robbing a 46-year-old man at his residence on E. Simmons. Police report that Cormier is believed to have pulled out a gun and attempted to rob the victim when another suspect entered the house after Cormier to assist with the robbery.

The resident victim pulled out his gun and exchanged gunfire with Cormier. Cormier left and was brought to the hospital by private automobile. Cormier died shortly after arrival. The victim, who was shot numerous times, was transported to the hospital by EMS in stable condition.

Cormier had previously been identified in at least two other violent crimes, including armed robbery and car theft while still a teen.
