The Lutcher Theater will present “My Fair Lady” on Monday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m. The date also celebrates the return of Orange native, Sophie Braud, back to the Lutcher Theater stage. A limited number of tickets are still available and can be purchased online at lutcher.org. The Lutcher Theater is located at 707 Main Ave. in downtown Orange.

From Lincoln Center Theater that brought you “The King & I” and “South Pacific,” comes “a sumptuous new production of the most perfect musical of all time” in Lerner & Loewe’s “My Fair Lady.” Director Bartlett Sher’s glowing production tells the story of Eliza Doolittle, a young Cockney flower seller, and Henry Higgins, a linguistics professor who is determined to transform her into his idea of a “proper lady.” But who is really being transformed?

“We are excited to host Orange native Sophie Braud back to the Lutcher Theater,” said Lynae Sanford, Executive Director of the Lutcher Theater. “Sophie was here three years ago with a different Broadway tour, ‘Escape to Margaritaville,’ and the community rolled out the red carpet for her. It’s always an honor to celebrate our talented locals.”

Braud is a graduate of Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School, where she was a member of the President's Honor Roll, National Honor Society, Homecoming Queen, among others.

She began dancing at 2 under the direction of the late Lorna Badon Knaus. She then found her passion and inspiration for musicals, which took her to Oklahoma City University, where she earned a Bachelor of Performing Arts in Dance Performance. After graduating, she moved to New York City and performed on the first Broadway national tour of "Escape to Margaritaville" in the Lutcher.

We spoke to Braud about her love and passion for the arts and the excitement of returning home.
