It’s a special Classic Movie Night on Friday, Feb. 18, with LUTV’s production of “The Will Talk About Us – The Charlton-Pollard Story” and “The Wiz” at the Jefferson Theatre (345 Fannin St) in downtown Beaumont.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. followed by a 6 p.m. start time. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for those 12 and under and can be purchased online at beaumontevents.com.

In LUTV Productions’ “They Will Talk About Us: The Charlton-Pollard Story,” a young documentarian interviews a reluctant historian about the origins of the oldest Black neighborhood in Beaumont.

“The Wiz” is a 1978 musical based off the children’s novel, “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.” When Harlem schoolteacher Dorothy (Diana Ross) tries to save her dog from a storm, she’s miraculously whisked away to an urban fantasy land called Oz. After accidentally killing the Wicked Witch of the East upon her arrival, Dorothy is told about the Wiz (Richard Pryor), a wizard who can help her get back to Manhattan. As Dorothy goes in search of the Wiz, she’s joined by the Scarecrow (Michael Jackson), the Tin Man (Nipsey Russell) and the Cowardly Lion (Ted Ross).

The film is Rated G and is 2 hours and 14 minutes.
