Enjoy the 2001 computer-animated fantasy comedy film, “Shrek,” on Friday, April 14, inside the Jefferson Theatre at 7 p.m. Tickets are $4 for kids, $6 for adults, and can be purchased online at ticketmaster.com or at the venue, evening of the show.

It ain’t easy bein’ green – especially if you’re a likable (albeit smelly) ogre named Shrek. On a mission to retrieve a gorgeous princess from the clutches of a fire-breathing dragon, Shrek teams up with an unlikely compatriot – a wisecracking donkey. The movie features the voices of Mike Meyers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, John Lithgow and others.

Rated PG, the film grossed more than $491 million and won an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. The movie’s success spawned three sequels – “Shrek 2,” “Shrek the Third” and “Shrek Forever After” – along with two spin-off films – “Puss in Boots” and “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish – and many other television programs.

It is also regarded as one of the most influential animated films of the 2000s and was selected for preservation by the United States Library of Congress in the National Film Registry in 2020.

The Jefferson Theatre is located at 345 Fannin St. in downtown Beaumont. For more information, call (409) 838-3435 or view beaumonteventstx.com.
