Seattle rockers Candlebox, who are known for their No. 1 singles “Change,” “You,” “Cover Me” and “Far Behind,” will perform at the Grand Event Center inside the Golden Nugget in nearby Lake Charles, Louisiana, on Friday, March 11, at 8:30 p.m.

Tickets for this 21 and older show are $15-$25 and can be purchased online at goldennugget.com.

Led by vocalist Kevin Martin, Candlebox was an integral part of one of the most influential subcultures that took place during the late 1980s and early 1990s – grunge. Candlebox was the first successful band to sign with Maverick Records, which went on to sign the likes of Alanis Morissette, Deftones and Prodigy.

Their self-titled debut album was released in 1993 and went on to sale more than 4 million units thanks to the radio-friendly and chart-topping songs “Change,” “You,” “Cover Me” and “Far Behind,” which can still be heard on multiple platforms today.

Other charting songs on “Billboard” are “Simple Lessons,” “Understanding,” “It’s Alright,” “10,000 Horses,” “Happy Pills,” “Stand” and “Vexatious.”

The band released a new record, “Wolves,” on Pavement Music, which is their seventh studio effort.

“Wolves” is a modern rock album that’s rife with brutal lyrical honesty and songs that run the gamut from dirty rock stompers to timeless, radio-ready pop-rock tunes. “These are songs that I love that the band loved,” said Martin. “We didn’t stop ourselves from recording anything if we dug it; we allowed each song to dictate to us what it needed musically, instrumentally.”

Candlebox recently premiered the music video for “All Down Hill from Here,” a single from “Wolves” that Martin co-wrote with Christopher Thorne of Blind Melon. The music video features footage of Candlebox on the road.

I recently spoke with Martin about the longevity of Candlebox, grunge era and so much more!
