Viva Artaco!
Last year, the inaugural ArTaco Festival was the bright light in an otherwise dim world during the height of the pandemic. The festival was the first outdoor, open-aired option for the community to enjoy with local artisans, businesses, food, and live music. Over 3,500 attendees descended upon downtown Beaumont to enjoy the sunshine, music, tacos, art, and beers set to a vibrant and colorful backdrop. With the installation of over ten murals in the downtown area from the Beaumont Mural Festival, the Beaumont Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and Beaumont Events are teaming to continue with that momentum and bring the whimsical festival back to make it bigger and better.
“We are proud to host this event celebrating Hispanic culture and heritage, which is an important part of the fabric of our community,” said City of Beaumont Director of Event Services, Emily Wheeler. “We welcome everyone to Downtown to enjoy the day of festivities.”
In conjunction with Restaurant Week (May 5-15, 2022), VIVA ARTACO Hispanic Heritage Festival will take place Saturday, May 14, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Beaumont Civic Center parking lot in downtown Beaumont. Festival attendees can also enjoy Family Arts Day at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas taking place adjacent to the event. Entry is FREE and the festival will highlight local artisans, restaurants, live entertainment, dancers, attractions, and more, to shine a light on the Hispanic culture of our area.
“The ARTACO Festival last year highlighted the vibrant art scene that has only expanded, especially with last month’s Mural Fest,” said Beaumont CVB Director of Marketing, Christina Lokey. “This year, we are going to make it even bigger due to the collaboration with Beaumont Events. The ability to offer events like this to the citizens of Beaumont to celebrate the culture of members of our community is something we love to be a part of.”
