Mardi Gras moments
The good times were rolling last weekend as thousands took to the downtown streets of our fair city to enjoy the Mardi Gras season festivities. Enjoying the grand balls, concerts, parades, dueling pianos and a jazz brunch were Marc McDonald, Vic Reyna, Ellen Schulz, Kim and Dade Phelan, Katie and Frank Celli, Nicki and Frank Thomas, Katie and Clarke Baker, Emily and Jeff Wheeler, Cindy and Butch Frazier, Roni Stephenson, Everett Green Carrie and Jessie Garcia, Susan Simmons, Jo Vance, Camille Mouton, Gisela Houseman, Suzanne Nichols, Pam and Richard Cantu, Tom Neild, Celia Crittenden, Lil Lombardo, Gisela Houseman, Madeline Benton, Jimmy Simmons and so many others. Kudos to the Laura Childress and the “krewe” behind the Mardi Gras of Southeast Texas for a magnificent job well done.
Birthday blast … Kelli Trevino hosted a birthday bash for hubby Paul Trevino’s 60th bday. Celebrating at Courville’s with family members Mary-Caroline and Cody Bishop, Annie Trevino and Bobby DiTullio, Elizabeth and Jeffrey Trevino, Jadeanne and Jeff Hayes, Jan, Jason, Huston and Kyle Hayes. Noting better… Than 20-plus PYT’s getting a jump on Valentine’s Day on Cupid’s Eve with hostess Haylee Faggard at a Galentine Gathering with lots of laughter and love. March is rolling in… Fundraisers in March begin Thursday, March 2, with the Art Museum of Southeast Texas’ annual Go for the Gold reverse drawn and dinner, at 6:30 p.m. The following evening, Friday, March 3, the Junior League of Beaumont will be dancing the night away with their seventh Dancing With the Stars of Southeast Texas at the Civic Center at 7 p.m. The Symphony of Southeast Texas welcomes Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis from the legendary pop and soul group, The 5th Dimension, on Saturday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m. at the Julie Rogers Theatre. The Lutcher Theater is Orange will host a cappella sensation Voctave on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. This 11-member a cappella group from Central Florida have strong ties to Disney, with several members having performed with the Voices of Liberty a cappella group at the American Adventure Pavilion at the Epcot theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort. Voctave members have roots in musical theater, contemporary Christian music, barbershop, pop and choral music. Make plans to join McFaddin Ward Home on Sunday, March 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m, for “SOAR Family Day” featuring Butterfly Bikes, live music, picnicking on the grounds, booths from the Sabine-Neches Master Naturalists and Houston Museum of Natural Science Bug Cart, a butterfly garden created by local artists, crafts, family activities and more. Whew!
