The Harvest House hosted their fifth annual gala Jan. 25 at the MCM Eleganté and founder/CEO Lisa Boler was thrilled with the turnout, which also included a musical performance from “American Idol” alum and Beaumont native Kate Watson. Funds were raised from this event to help ending sex trafficking in Southeast Texas. Emcee Kelsey Borzey introduced everyone to the new executive director, Janina Irving, as well as guest speaker and Beaumont Police Department Detective Chuck Duchamp. Supporting the great cause were Hannah and Michael Moore, Sherrie and Jeff Branick, Courtney and Josh Ivy, Andrea and Taylor Neild, Stephanie and Keith Vanskike, Trisha and Roy West,  Kim Duchamp, Brittnee and Chris Barnes, Whitney and Kevin Stiles, Amber and Rene Villarreal, Jenna and Andrew Gautreaux, Heather Montagne, Haley Morrow, Vicki Rector and many others. Yay to Elaine Henderson for winning a strawberry delight cake from Batter Up Bakery during the entertaining cake auction.

What a shootout… A “sellout” crowd packed Courville’s last Thursday evening for the American General Contractors of Southeast Texas annual and Pistols and Purses Bingo fundraiser. It was a total “blast” for all of those in attendance. Winners of the pistols and purses included Wayne Holland, Cameron Whitman, Michele Stacey Sjodin and Sherry Daniels. Belinda and Kerry Trest won the live auction “Yellowstone” trip. Having a ball were Jennifer and Mark Phelan, Lauren and Cash Williams, Sara and Spencer Jabbia, Jennifer Pate, Katrina and Ryan Rosson, Jane and Dan Parker, just to name a few.

Mardi party… The Art Museum of Southeast Texas will host its first “Krewe d’AMSET” party on Thursday, Feb. 24, from 6-9 p.m., which is also the opening night of Mardi Gras Southeast Texas in downtown Beaumont. Enjoy live music from the band Flava, a Cajun-style dinner from Two Magnolias and of course, artwork for sale by local artists. A gumbo dinner catered by Two Magnolias will be available for $20 pre-sale and $25 at the door. Gift baskets will also be raffled throughout the night. Dinner tickets are available online at amset.org or by calling (409) 832-3432. Come dressed in your gold, green and purple! Wear your Cajun dancing shoes, so you can boogie down Zydeco style. All proceeds will benefit the AMSET exhibition and educational programming. See you there!

Birthday bash… Rather than take a trip to celebrate her 40x2 special day, Sally Nichols realized most places are too cold at this time of year, so the bday girl then decided to celebrate in her wonderful home town of Beaumont. The celebration was held in the quaint historic Sanders House on Pine Street. This lovely abode has been completely restored and beautifully refurbished and was truly party-ready. The Robert Sanders home was constructed in 1895 and was referred to as a “woodcarver’s castle” with complex exterior volumes including a tower and bow windows. The honoree’s hubby, Howard Nichols (aka Nick), rolled out two yummy coconut cakes after guests enjoyed a delicious meal by Bando’s Catering. Raising their glasses and tapping their feet to the musical sounds of musician Jimmy Simmons were Celia Crittenden, Pat Klein, Betty Clarke, Susan Simmons, Joy and Will Crenshaw, Will McNeill, Susannah Cronin, Becky and Bill Yoes, Elizabeth Phelan, Barbara and Alan McNeill, Candace and Dick LeMasters, Grant Nichols (her son in from San Antonio), Sarah and Ian Berthold, Pat and Ivan Barry, June and Lindy Dennis, Kay Nichols, Susanne Nichols, Chris Miller, Ann Etheridge, Elizabeth and Tom Lamb. A great time was had by all. Happy bday!

She said yes… Congratulations to Taylor Haymour and Russell Johnson, who were recently engaged in Austin.

Happy anniversary… to Anna Katherine and Thomas Falgout (2 years), Jane and Ian Angel (26), Sheila and Greg Gentry (40), Charlene and Danny Babineaux (50) and Nikki and Joe Ramey (50). Felicitations!
