Speaking of Beaumont Community Players… Charlotte Mains and her committee will once again orchestrate the second annual White Linen Night fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 13, from 7-11 p.m. on the grounds of BCP (4155 Laurel St.). The Flava Band will entertain guests while they shop for great local art and sip on their favorite libation. Some of the artists who will be participating are Mike Cacioppo, Jamie Kessler, Emily Bagget, Debbie Minyard, Ines Alvarez, Megan Copeland, Marilyn Bell, Michelle Kinnard and Redd Allen. There will also be some treasures from Young Life Estate Sales. Committee members fast at work on organizing this fun evening are Jane Broussard, Kimberly Goodson, Margie Chase, Suzanne Maloney, Derek McWilliams, Jerry Thacker, Lane Wilson, Jack George and Bobbie Applegate. It was nearly a century ago when Beaumont Community Players was originated with no indoor air conditioning, so community members had to find creative ways to stay cool. Since the color white reflects heat, while linen clothing became a staple fashion among the locals during the warm summer months… thus the enjoyment of “White Linen Nights” in August to celebrate the arts in our warm (this year-extremely) Beaumont summer. Early bird tickets are available at BCP box office for $15 until Aug. 11 and will be $20 day of event. Wear your white linen or summer shorts to stay cool as the “Arts heat up Beaumont.” See you there!
