Le Grand Bal 2022 “LU in the Sky with Diamonds” gala was a groovy, psychedelic event chaired by Laura and Craig Escamilla last Saturday evening. The accessory of the evening was the round, Beatle-type glasses worn by many of the guests along with bell bottoms, beads and bright colors. Lamar University President Jaime Taylor, and first lady Stacy Taylor, were thrilled with the outpouring support. Guests had a blast bidding on creative art during the art gallery auction. Past LU President Jimmy Simmons introduced Friends of the Arts patron honorees Patti and Floyd McSpadden along with artist honoree Betsy Burleson Hines. Some of the classic Beatles chic underwriters enjoying the dinner and dancing to the sounds of Still Cruisin’ well into the wee-hours were Kelli and Qamar Arfeen, Susan Simmons, Becky and Chuck Mason, Sherrie and Jeff Branick, Carol and Kip Glasscock, Melody and Pat Parsons, Regina Rogers, Charlene and Danny Babineaux, Rusty Chimeno, Rob Clark, Jerry Thacker, Dean Terrebonne, Sandra Clark, Sandy and Joseph Fertitta, Jo Beth and Mike Jenkins, Soheila and Sina Nejad, Gracelyn and Russel Miller, Michelle and Will Leonard, Derina and Paul Holtzhausen, Beverly and Fred Escamilla, Kim and Roy Steinhagen, Paula and Amy Lovoi, Karen and Bob Wortham, Sheila and Doug DeVaugh, Nancy and David Grove, Jami and Stephen Lee, Jean Moncla, Katherine and Tristan Bernardino, Kerri and Shaheen Farah, Kay and Dana Timeaus, Martha and Leon Hicks, Linda and Joe Domino, Susan and Wayne Margolis, and too many others to mention.

Successful fling… All Saints Episcopal School held their annual Spring Fling last Friday at the downtown Event Centre. Chair Larae Jones did a fab job with the event. Bidding in the auction were Mikala and Heath McGallion, Amy and Thomas Mayo, Crystal and S.K. Rao, Stephanie and Bernie Daleo, Susan and Jordan Reese, Amber and Dallas Barrington, Megan and Amy Pounders and Kelly and Gaile Henry. Enjoying the libations and bites from MacKenzie’s were Carla and Josh Allen, Shari Brewer, Joy and Will Crenshaw, Meredith and Cade Bernsen, Laine and Robbie Morrison, Lisa and David Fenner, Shelley and Carl Vitanza, Kate Davis, Chisa and Dike Echendu, April and Barrett Lindsay, Molly Moore, Meredith and Cullen Ducote, Jennifer and Peter Maida, Natalie and Buzz Warren, Alison and Mark Low, Lois and Walter Snider, Emily Trevino, Allison Heare, Allison and Mike Gilbert, Marilyn and Ed Gripon, Laurie and Shea Kent, Vicki and Dave Thomas and so many others!

Looking forward to Rollin’ on the Neches River LXXIV Street Party and Parade next Friday, April 8, at Crockett Street. Block Party begins at 5 p.m., and will include food trucks, adult libations, photo booths, arts and crafts from the Beaumont Children’s Museum, pups to pet from the Beaumont Humane Society and a DJ to keep the party going. The NRF is also honoring the Citizen of the Year, Becki Stedman, Social Chair LXXIV Ashley Messina and the new NRF King Mark Fertitta and the 74th royal court. NRF President Mitch Toups will once again be the MC of the event. See you there!

A sea of white… was the dress code for the Lawn Party at the Chamber House last Sunday afternoon. All the princesses and their escorts were presented to all of the parents and NRF officials before they proceeded to play games of croquet and a delicious picnic.

It’s best to be first… The Art Museum of Southeast Texas will once again take part in First Thursday next Thursday, April 7, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Starting in April, every first Thursday of the month, AMSET will again stay open late for the public to have an opportunity to view current exhibitions and enjoy special programming, which will include a presentation from the Big Thicket National Preserve Community Outreach Manager, Heidi Dietze. Have a glass of wine or a craft beer provided by the cash bar with light refreshments while you enjoy all that AMSET has for avid art lovers of Southeast Texas. Be there!
