Symphony sensational

Last Wednesday evening, Symphony of Southeast Texas Executive Director Doug Fair, SOST President Sandra Clark along with board and symphony supporters to an enchanted evening at the Downtown Event Centre. After cocktails and conversation, Clark presented Betsy Hines and Gary Hines with the Carlucci Award for their many talented years of contribution to the symphony. Cleared for takeoff… The 20th annual Harvest of Hope Gala will honor Diane and Don Shaver on Thursday, Nov. 10, at the Shaver-Albanese Hangar at the Jack Brooks Airport beginning at 6 p.m. With the “Top Gun” theme, the event will feature dancing, live auction and live music by special guest Tracy Byrd. Guests will enjoy dinner provided by various local food trucks and restaurants. Michele and Mitch Smith, along with Stephanie and Bernie Daleo, are serving as the chairs of this year’s soirée. Committee members include Rev. Talented venues… Beaumont Community Players will present the American classic “Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune” by Terrance McNally from Oct. 21 through Nov. 5 at the Betty Greenberg Center for Performing Arts. This romantic and visceral play is directed by BCP Executive Director John Manfredi. The matinee performance on Oct. 29 will have American sign Language interpretation. Also on Saturday, the mighty Lutcher Theater kicks off their 43rd season with “R.E.S.P.E.C.T.” an electrifying tribute celebrating the legendary Aretha Franklin. This joyous concert event will play for one night only. Be there!

Gettin’ spooky with it… the 2nd annual Historic Magnolia Cemetery Tour will be held on Thursday, Oct. 20, from 4:30-6:30 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. The purpose of this tour is to promote the rich history of our area through the lived experiences of our past residents.

Our special Rose… Duchess Jacqueline Adams participated in the Tyler Rose Festival with their year’s theme, “Empires of Enchantment.” Her incredible address was called “Mosaic” and she was introduced with the Colbie Caillat’s song, “Brighter Than the Sun.” Her escort, Duncan Reynolds of Fort Worth, is the nephew of former Beaumonter Fantasy Serratt Reynolds. Betsy and Michael Jenkins graciously sponsored Jacqueline. Enjoying the weekend festivities were Tonya and Mitch Toups, Alexandra Adams, Justin Essex, Misty and Gilbert Adams III, Julianna and Chris LeBlanc, Marilyn and Gilbert Adams Jr., Hannah Dockens, Emma Sanford, Tammy and Scott Crutchfield, Laurie and Shea Kent, along with other family members and Kappas from Baylor University.
