Lace Up
Still time... to lace up this Saturday morning in downtown Beaumont at the regional community event celebrating life, courage and camaraderie – the 12th annual Julie Richardson Procter 5K Ribbon Run Gift of Life Monster Dash from 8 a.m. to noon at the Beaumont Civic Center. Put on your “spooky” costumes and grab your treat bags to help say “boo” to breast and ovarian cancer. You can register online at golribbonrun.org or at the Ribbon Run beginning at 6 a.m. The Gift of Life will also applaud the efforts of eight exceptional women with the Angel Among Us honors including Mellie Bevilacqua, Nakisha Burns, Georgine Guillory, Elaine Henderson, Kelly Prasser, Shelley Tortorice, Shelly Vitanza and Jodie Wood. Rev. James Fuller and Allison Nathan Getz were the recipients of the Rabbi Samuel Rosinger Humanitarian Award, which was held last Thursday in front of more than 400 guests at Temple Emanuel’s annual dinner fundraiser at the Downtown Event Centre. Ken Parker, President of Board of Trustees, welcomed the honorees, family and friends. Wayne Margolis introduced the keynote noter, Anna Salton Eisen. Everyone was on the edge of their seats as she took us through the journey of her parents as young survivors of the Holocaust. Pumpkins among us… discover plentiful pumpkins and hordes of goods in the Beaumont Botanical Gardens during their Ghosts, Gardens, and Goblins. Hundreds of pumpkins will pave the paths as guests wander through the gardens Saturday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tricks and treats will delight young and old during this family event. Spooky trails, face painting, storytelling, refreshments, live entertainment, activities for the kids and more will create a magic world for children of all ages. St. Anne Catholic School will host its annual Halloween Carnival on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. After a three-year hiatus, the carnival will make its return on the school grounds, located at 375 North 11th Street in Beaumont. Fun, games, food, music and costume contest. The event is free and open to the community. Later that evening, Monsignor Kelly High School will get into the festive fun with “Terror Town: Monster Manor” from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the Randy Roane Black Box Theatre inside Kelly High School.
Dance, dance… The Junior League of Beaumont recently announced the dancing couples for their popular Dancing With the Stars of Southeast Texas fundraiser, which scheduled for Friday, March 3. The lineup includes April Tolbert and Andrew McClusky, Sadé Chick and Ron Rocio, Amy Peevey and Chris Kovatch, Ines Alvidres and Nick Lampson, Kristine Banks Dahl and Dante Miller, Courtney White and Chad Lapray, Alli Doty and Elton Hollis-Lancaster, and Kathryn Messina and Morgan Walker.
