The 12th Annual Babe Zaharias Junior Golf High School Award winners were announced last week at 5 Under Golf Center in Beaumont. Each coach submitted their nominations for the Character Leadership Award and Player of the Year.

Winners were Montana Dileo (Girls Player of the Year, LC-M), Neely Wozniak (Girls Character and Leadership Award), Tatum Bean (Girls Underclassmen of the Year, PN-G), Johnnie Harrell (Girls Coach of the Year, LC-M), Xander Parks (Boys Player of the Year, Orangefield), Lincoln Parks (Boys Underclassmen of the Year, Orangefield), Jeremy Blackwell (West Brook) and Cade Jeans (Hardin-Jefferson) were Boys Co-Character and Leadership winners, and Todd Trawhon (Boys Coach of the Year, Orangefield).

The guest speaker was All-American Lamar University standout golfer and current PGA Tour Professional, Chris Stroud.

Memorial Day was special for many reasons. Nederland golfer Blake Tiner aced his first hole in one on Hole 15 at Bayou Din, a Par 4 366-yard strike, which is equivalent to one-in-six million odds to connect an ace on a Par 4. Witnessing the feat were Randy Williamson, Randy Stovall and Matt Gorrell.
