Sports Shorts: LCM football

Amier Washington, who was the coverboy of The Examiner’s Southeast Texas High School Football Preview last season, committed to play football at Texas Tech University. The 6-foot-2, 260-pound defensive lineman had offers from Baylor, Houston and Central Michigan.

Washington was the District 10-4A Division I co-Defensive MVP and joins Texas Tech’s recruiting class, which was Ranked No. 20 in the country according to Rivals.com.
