Several area swimmers advanced to the UIL State Championship Meet, which will be held Feb. 8-10 in San Antonio.

Competing for Lumberton are Evan Bernard (100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard freestyle), who broke the school record in the 100-yard freestyle in 52.65 seconds, and Roman Weber in the 200-yard individual medley. Both are the first two boys from Lumberton to qualify for state.

On the girls’ side, Mya Weber of Lumberton was selected to compete in the 50-yard freestyle, which was based on times from all regional meets. She finished fourth in her respected event.
